The London Korean Film Festival 2009 & Boon Joon-ho Retrospective announced

The dates for this years London Korean Film Festival have been announced -running from the 5th until the 12th November 2009. No films or guest have been announced yet, but expect the Festival to have some gems up it’s sleeves as it always manages to impress.

As a bonus to the main festival, from the 10th to the 19th of November the BFI Southbank will be also be holding a retrospective of the work of THE HOST director Bong Joon-ho (and I would hazard a guess that his latest film MOTHER will be shown – although this has not yet been announced).

If you can’t make it into London then you might be able to catch the festival ‘On Tour’ -with films playing in Manchester from the 7th-9th November and over in Nottingham from the 16th-18th November.

There’s not alot on it yet, but the website for the festival is up here and the information will also be posted at the Barbican website which can be found here.  I’ll post more on the line-up of films when it’s announced.

Edit: Although there’s not a whole lot there, a few films have now been announced:

‘Get set for exclusive screenings with special guests; new works from Korea’s master directors including Kim Ki-duk’s Dream, Park Chan-wook’s Thirst and Yoo Ha’s A Frozen Flower, director of the moment Yang Ik-june’s smash hit Breathless; Korea’s indie film scene; a focus on industry veteran Yoo Hyun Mok; family animation, the best of new releases and more’
