Optimum to release ‘Chaw’ in the UK

Optimum Releasing have bought the rights to Shin Jeong-weon’s recent CHAW (pronounced ‘chow’) – the black comedy horror which was described by Variety as ‘Razorback meets Jaws’. The trailer has been doing the rounds on the internet over the last couple of months and performed pretty well at the Korean box-office and word-of-mouth seems to be positive.

CHAW certainly looks like it could be a pretty fun B-movie – with it’s big monster, big chase scenes and both good and bad big special effects. Maybe Optimum are hoping for a success along the lines of THE HOST as that monster movie performed pretty well, so it will be interesting to see what type of release the film eventually gets – THE HOST was treated to a limited theatrical release before it’s decent treatment on DVD and Blu-ray. I’ll be posting news of it’s release as soon as Optimum announce it.

If you haven’t caught the trailer for CHAW yet, you can check it out here.
