"This is an easy and difficult question at the same time... My film can be different genres at once" that was the answer to my question about all the genres who I got the impressed to catch in the movie: Western, Detectives, Romance, , Fantasy, K-Drama...and I think I understood his point of view that all of the genres together mean "Life" ! I believe this is his poetic point of view about making movies.

Thank you to let me know I didnt not make such a stupid question to a director for first time in my life! :)

And I was one of these autograph-freaks on the queue...which I had never liked before...But now I feel I need physical prints to not forget what I have done in life!;-)

See you on next movie!

Now I'll have to track down "Throne of Blood" - "Macbeth" is one of my favourite Shakespeare plays, and I would love to see Kurosawa's take on it.

"I was the first person there so I had my choice of seating, as I always do I opted for dead centre in the middle row. As it turned out I was the only person who came in for this screening but that was fine by me."

Yeah, that would be my choice of seat as well. I have never been the only person at a screening, although I have been in screenings with very, very few people. Glad to see another person happy to go to the cinema by him/herself - I would rather see a film, than not see it because there is no one else interested! In fact, I rather cherish the 'seeing-a-film-by-myself' experience.

Fab article, Pierce, you've given me things to add to my to-watch list.

I didn't mind it. Ha Ji-won is amusing as the 'ballsy chick' and she lays it on a bit thick. All that's missing is for her to be chewing tobacco and spitting it out.

The effects range from decent to bloody awful. But there's enough imagination in the action sequences to excuse a lot of that.

oh well, i don;t know about the bridge incident. But I thought it was probably the best korean movie I've seen.
Would a Jerry Bruckheimer film show a communist child being shot, or the maggot scene, or dying soldiers coughing up blood. i know nothing about the korean war, but I certainly didn't see the movie as depicting North Koreans as Villains. I will admit though that the climax was a cliche where the cavalry(south korean army ) arrive in the nick of time.I thought t.o.p's acting had improved since Iris. But I'll reserve judgement on that.

I just finished watching Welcome to Dongmakgol and thought it was a very good movie. Steve was great in it and I would like to see him in more movies. He's a good actor and nice to look at as well! The movie has an important message about the stupidity of war. The American war machine looks stupid and rightly so. The North/South Korean conflict is overly simplified and other movies have done it much better but the movie is well done and worth the time.

Excellent list. You have guts putting BUNSHINSABA in there, because it is so Hollywood-slick and clearly derivative of other better films.

But it is very entertaining, and the women are beyond gorgeous.

Great list.,

I'm gonna have to track down MY MIGHTY PRINCESS. Koreans can do whimsical, charming romantic comedies in a way that Hollywood wishes it could.
